Alan Sherwell has taken early retirement from BT, where he worked for 30 years. He is a season ticket holder at Aylesbury United. He represented Grange Ward - part of which has been moved into the new Bedgrove - from 1993 to 2003 and Bedgrove subsequently. He is also a Town Councillor. Alan is currently leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on AVDC.
He believes that much was achieved by the Council when it was being run by the Liberal Democrats and is particularly proud of chairing the sub-committee that brought Aylesbury its new swimming pool and cinema against Tory opposition - although managing, as Chairman of Policy and Resources, to fund over three million pounds of new initiatives almost entirely out of savings comes a close second.
He is sad that the District Council seems to have lost its way under Conservative management and believes that our vibrant and expanding town deserves better.
