Chester Jones - Bedgrove

I was first elected in May 1993 and I represent Bedgrove on both Aylesbury Vale DC and Bucks CC.

You can contact me by phone on 01296 483325

The best thing I have achieved as a Councillor is to be recognised as an active Councillor who tries to reflect the wishes of the electorate, who helped to defeat plans to build the M418 motorway, 40 metres high, close to Bedgrove, and who fought off original plans to reduce the Mobile Library Service in Bedgrove.

What else would I like to achieve? I would like to see 20 mph speed limits on Turnfurlong Lane, Bedgrove/Camborne Avenue, Limes Avenue, King Edward Avenue, Ambleside and if demanded, Langdon Avenue and Long Meadow.

The worst thing about being a councillor is the sheer frustration at the time it takes to achieve results, and often not being able to deliver on the reasonable requests of the electorate.

The general warmth and friendliness of the people, the mixing and cohesiveness of the different cultures within the community are some of the best things about Aylesbury.

Apart from being a Councillor I like travelling, I spend a couple of months each year in the Caribbean (mainly in Barbados) which is my birthplace. My hobbies when time allows, are to play a game of Scrabble, watch sport, and eating out. My wife Inez and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this year. We have two sons, Colin, who is married to Melanie, and Simon, who is married to Michelle. They have helped to produce three lovely grand children, two girls and a boy. In the voluntary sector, I help to manage Aylesbury Vale Multicultural Centre, I am a member of Aylesbury Vale Racial Equality Council, Bedgrove Residents Association, and Community Matters (Bucks).
