Denise Summers -
Mandeville & Elm Farm |
When I arrived in Aylesbury over 25 years ago I soon became involved in community activities which have included: Hospital Radio, Tutor of English as a Second Language (ESOL), Aylesbury Racial Equality Council, Riding for the Disabled, Mandeville School Governor, Care for the Elderly and local voluntary groups. When I was invited to stand for Aylesbury Town Council it seemed a natural progression to enable me to take my activities to a broader level; I was elected to the Town Council in 2001 becoming Town Mayor from 2004 - 2006. The realisation of how much can be achieved from within and caring passionately about the area in which I live, resulted in my standing and being elected to the District Council in 2003 and the County Council in 2005. I am delighted to be serving the Aylesbury South, Mandeville & Elm Farm Wards which as I have always lived in this area gives me a greater understanding of the problems and frustrations facing my fellow residents.
