Keith Turner - Aylesbury Central

Keith was born in Bucks, lived in a council house in High Wycombe before the family moved to West Wycombe village. He attended High Wycombe Royal Grammar School. He also represented Bucks as a member of the U-18 rugby team and later Oxfordshire at senior level.

Keith was employed as s a business consultant for an international consultancy and then spent 14 years with Reuters as a project manager and eventually as an International Product Manager. He then set up his own software house specialising in the development of systems designed to support foreign exchange trading and derivatives of such. After 10 years he sold his controlling interest in the business and decided to start involving himself in areas that interested him more.

As a self-taught local historian he has over the last few years not spent as much time as he would have liked piecing together the history of Aylesbury Town. He has served as the Chairman of the Aylesbury Constituency Liberal Democrat Party. He has also been a Business Advisor to the Young Enterprise schemes run by Mandeville School.

Keith was elected in May 2003 as councillor for the Aylesbury Central Ward. “Being a District Councillor has been one the biggest challenge I have faced, On election you are immediately expected to be an expert on planning law, policing, etc – its a steep learning curve. What do I enjoy most? Meeting the residents of central Aylesbury. If I can help them – then so much the better. What don’t I like? The bureaucracy and the lack of speed in resolution of problems.
