County Challenged to Improve Road Safety

Glenda has asked Bucks County Council to look into the possibility of siting a Toucan Crossing on Oakfield
Road between Stanhope Road and Olivier Way much nearer to Broughton Avenue than the present zebra
crossing north of Wingate Walk. As Glenda says “The most important reason for a crossing is to help
children attending Broughton first and middle schools get over the busy Oakfield Road. The current
crossing is too far away and tempts children and parents to cross at the wrong place because it is quicker. It would greatly improve safety if there was a crossing point nearer to Broughton Avenue.

IMPROVING VICTORIA PARK

Cllr Glenda Reynolds and Cllr Chloe Willetts have been working with the local Residents’ Association, the County Council,
Aylesbury Grammar School and others to try to tackle the problems in this area. On the one hand, there
have been many reports of anti-social behaviour in and frequent damage to the fence separating the
Park itself from neighbouring roads. On the other hand, although Aylesbury Grammar School nominally
uses the park as a sports field, it is not convenient for them, is greatly underused and could be a real
local asset rather than a problem.
