Budget Cuts will hit the most vunerable

The Tory administration vote for budget cuts which will hit the most vunerable.
Cllr Niknam Hussain, Shadow spokesman for Achievement & Learning criticised the Tory administration for hitting the most vunerable children in the County with cuts to their services.
"It cannot be right that a Council that boasts about its education achievement has every single Upper school, where don't forget the majority of our secondary school age children go to school, BELOW the national average.
Where numerous reports to the Council have outlined the difficulties the lack of Educational Psychologists cause;
In a county where it is recognised we have large pools of underachieving children.
How does this Conservative Council recognise these facts? By yet again making cuts in all these areas.
This Council has yet to show that "Every Child Matters".
The School Improvement Service has been cut again over and above what was planned from the previous cuts.
The school welfare service has been cut and most damagingly posts in the Educational Psychologists department has been cut.
We in the Liberal Democrats proposed an amendment to restore these cuts with contributions from the Leader and Deputy Leaders's budgets but the majority Tory Group voted against.
All those parents who will be waiting longer for assessments and help, those parents with children at schools that are underachieving now know who to blame. |
