Submitting Questions
If you wish to ask a question to be put to the Candidates, please pre-submit it to the Returning Officer Simon Lytton by email to simonlytton@gmail.com, or by post to 40 Maple Road, Bicester OX26 6QY, arriving before 24th February 2026 at 19:00.
You may also be able to use the chat/Q&A facility during the Zoom Hustings to ask questions which we shall endeavour to pick up.
However, in view of the limited time available for them to be collected and moderated by the Returning Officer during the Hustings, there is no certainty in either case that there will be time to put them to the Candidates.
Online hustings guide
-
The button will be enabled on the day of the hustings, and a link will be shared at the same time, and in an email going out in the hour before the Hustings .
If you don’t use a computer, tablet or smartphone, you can also call in using any telephone. The phone number to use and the meeting ID is listed above.
Zoom is a widely used platform for virtual meetings and is approved and used by the Party generally. It is simple, quick and easy to use.
Alternatively, you could arrange to watch the Hustings at another member’s house. -
The English Party has directed that until the next General Election, all Hustings and Voting in connection with the selection of Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (“PPCs”) will be online.
-
For the purposes of the Hustings, you may not necessarily be able to see or hear your fellow attendees but will be able to see and hear the Candidates, the Chair, and the Returning Officer.
The Hustings for this selection will be held on 26th of February at 19:30 via the zoom button above.
You can join the hustings from any time after 19:15 on 26th of February. To avoid delaying the start of the Hustings, please log in before 19:30
Voting
Voting opens after the hustings on Thursday February 26th at 9pm and closes on Thursday 12th of March at 9pm. Your vote must be received before this deadline to be counted.
You can vote online at www.mi-vote.com once voting opens. You should receive an e-ballot containing your Unique Voting Code (UVC) from elections@libdems.org.uk
If you have opted out of ALL Federal party emails, you will NOT receive an e-ballot. Please contact the Returning Officer for your UVC or to request a postal vote.
Requesting a Postal Ballot
If you do not have internet access or would prefer to vote by post, you must apply by writing to Simon Lytton at
40 Maple Road, Bicester OX26 6QY
Please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope and return the enclosed application form as soon as possible.
Voting Guide
-
Only members whose registered address is in the Aylesbury constituency, and either (a) were fully paid up on 27th December 2025, or (b) lapsed no more than 3 months before that date and re-joined before the Hustings, are eligible to vote.
-
Voting will be by the Single Transferable Vote (STV) method. You will be able to express your relative preferences for the Candidates.
Electronic voting will be open for two weeks, starting the after the 26th of February Hustings, and at the end of the voting period.
If you received the selection notice by email, your e-ballot will be sent to the same email address.
You will receive further details about the e-ballot with your ballot e-mail.
-
The electronic voting system is unable to issue ballots to government email addresses, or email addresses shared by more than one member. Your email inbox may incorrectly identify the e-ballot as spam, or we may not have permission to email you.
There are two ways to address this:
- If you are happy casting your vote online but haven’t received a ballot email by 3rd March, please contact the Returning Officer to receive your personal voting codes.
- If you know you are not able to vote online, please contact the Returning Officer, requesting a paper ballot, as early as possible (there is no need to wait until after the Hustings). Please note that a postal ballot cannot be requested on behalf of another person; only by a member themself.
